For me and our company's requirements, Microsoft Office 97 and StarOffice
5.1 provide the same level of functionality. However, considering we've
been using Microsoft Office 97 for quite some time, StarOffice 5.1 is not
worth the learning curve (when combined with having to familiarize the
users with Linux, or at least the KDE UI). Microsoft Office 97 also
performs better at times, considering you don't have to load the
StarOffice explorer.

To merit a move from Windows + Office, I need to find a set of
applications that will help me with more justifiable reasons to go through
all that re-systematizing and retraining, not to mention debugging, should
things go wrong. :)
