I use the same S3 chipset and I use SVGA for 3.3.6. Slackware comes
with X 3.3.5 (which only supports S3 Trio3D/2X when tweaked) so I had
to download SVGA 3.3.6. Works perfectly.

I suggest you just download the newest 3.3.x SVGA server. Sorry, I'm
not that familiar with Redhat.
