Probably not. Keep in mind that there's a 100 meter limit for twisted
pair, after which you have to install a repeater. 100 meters may seem
like a lot when you're doing cabling inside a building, but once you're
outside...aha. It depends on how big the lots of your houses are. And
remember this cable has to travel *inside* too to reach the destination
computer/hub. Getting a cable across the street is also going to be a
major problem; you may need permission to be able to do stuff like that in
your neighborhood, and most likely poles which your cable goes up and then
down again. You'll be better off using stuff like 10Base5 (thick coaxial
cable) ethernet outside, which is capable of carrying signals up to 500
meters away. It's much more rugged than any 10Base2 (limit is 185 m) or
twisted pair too. Unfortunately, 10Base5 is only 10mbps, and has fallen
out of favor these days so it's not so easy to get.
