Try to add more RAM. It should be cheaper. Remember that Linux perform better with lots of RAM. Try to get at least 128 MB of RAM. Another hard drive would also make things better. I would suggest using Debian with XFCE4 as the GUI. A few months ago I was able to do this and the perfomance was decent except for playing video full screen. > > > What they want to do: > > > to record tapes to mp3 Really? Tapes? Walang CD? :) This might not be possible since this job is CPU intensive and requires a lot of disk space. Even in Win98 it would be a long shot to do. > > > web browsing No problem. > > > games The emulators should do fine. > > > office suite Loading will be slow but very usable once running. > > > chat client Should be ok. > > > scribus Not sure. This should be a lot of fun. :) Holden _________________________________________________ Philippine Linux Users' Group (PLUG) Mailing List [email protected] (#PLUG @ irc.free.net.ph) Read the Guidelines: http://linux.org.ph/lists Searchable Archives: http://archives.free.net.ph
