usability i think is pretty important... specially to people who just want to accomplish certain tasks in their computer... maybe even if it doesnt look the same way as an M$ desktop as soon as ppl see how easy it is to run the app they want i don't think ppl will care much... it's like this 6 year-old nephew of mine... he's hooked into computer because he gets to play the weiner-bus games or all sorts of online kids games... he doesn't care whatever computer he uses at home as long as he has access to a browser and surprisingly he's more used to using mozilla and knows that mozilla is a little different from mozilla-firefox (he'd say it's mozilla with a fox ;) )... so sometimes he would bug me and ask to play at my laptop that is a mandrake with an icewm (i customized my toolbar such that commonly used apps is only a click away) and he'd know immediately what to do he'd just click this familiar looking icon that is mozilla-firefox in the toolbar and in a second... he's already playing that javascript-based app. it's just a pity coz some apps that he plays are asp-based so i shove him away to that M$ desktop of my sister. --sarah > Thanks! > _________________________________________________ Philippine Linux Users' Group (PLUG) Mailing List [email protected] (#PLUG @ irc.free.net.ph) Read the Guidelines: http://linux.org.ph/lists Searchable Archives: http://archives.free.net.ph
