..
so isnt a 2nd-hand bare-minimum Cisco 3640 (with at least one
fast/ethernet card and one WAN card) a lot more expensive than a linux
zebra router running on a 1GB flash drive (around P3.8K with a
lifespan of 100K erase cylcles) with 2 fast ethernet card (baka built-in
pa nga ito sa mobo) and one WAN PCI card.
you can get a 2600-class router pre-owned for $200 to $300. granted that thing can't hold a full BGP table..
tapos, for as little as P6K, the linux router can have 1G RAM to hold
the a complete BGP routing table. and how much is a 1G RAM for Cisco.
eh less than 1Gig pa ata ang pwedeng ram size ng 3640.
this is a big laugh!! tell me how many telcos or carriers are using Linux for their core routing.
anybody who cares enough to do BGP for anything more than academic research, will want the better robustness and freedom from headaches of a REAL router.
baka you can get two linux units (one for standby) pa nga eh and
it will still be less than a 3640.
