I believe that in this mailing list, there are gurus and there ARE
Gurus. I emphasized the 'ARE' because I believe they're not endangered
species in this list.

When I attended the 2004 Open Source Conference, the negative feedback
about PLUG (mailing list) is the attitude of some supposed-to-be-gurus
that turn-off most newbies from the list. I hope that real gurus would
stay and help out the newbies, since that is the spirit of Free and
Open Source Software in the first place.

Linus Torvalds didn't just come out of nowhere already armed with the
technical achievement he became known for. Richard Stallman founded
Free Software Foundation and the GNU Project for the proliferation of
free software. Linus learned the skills and knowledge he has, and the
opportunity to learn was opened by Stallman's GPL. It is everyone's
right to learn and real gurus should contribute back to the community
that nurtured their knowledge.
