PLUG list has become a great resource for me, whenever i need to find contacts, vendors, or find a particular solution that i remembered being discussed on PLUG then i just fire up gmail's search first before i even go to google.com :)

It's also a source of inspiration for me such that when I'm bored or need to come up with a new application i just browse the list for other discussions that might interest me then try it out myself... which often ends up that our guru admin has to clean the configuration mess i made on the server :))

Unfortunately i wasn't able to archive in Gmail the old discussions at lists.q-linux.com but they can be searched via gmane.org.

*BTW some of the questions posted here is already answered beforehand (like many times) so before posting try searching gmane.org first.

OTOH, more and more folks are coming into the lists lately not so much
as to talk tech stuff, but to ask for support.  Aside from the
occasional third-party press releases, of course.

Yes, but they must (be made to) understand that the list should deal with technical linux questions. To wallow in disk-space consuming questions is just plain annoying. It doesn't even show the good side of linux and its users.....

Suddenly, I heared a tapping, as of someone gently rapping, rapping at my chamber door...
