Short answer: NO.  A stock Ubuntu linux-image-XXX downloaded off the
archive via apt-get, having Ubuntu-specific patches, won't work on a
Debian Sarge system `out of the box'.  So would trying to use a
stock Sarge kernel-image-XXX off Dapper. :/

You may, hoever, try to build Ubuntu's linux-source-XXX against
Debian's toolchain, to produce a native linux-image package.  Take
note, however, that you may have to turn off some options at the
kernel config that are Ubuntu-specific (dbus-1(?) comes to mind...)
