somebody asked me a question.

is it better to create an open sourced software company than a closed

Good day!
I think the question misses the point: what's the business model of
the software company to be built regardless whether to use open- or
closed source software? What's the value proposition of the software
company in the first place?
Using open source in itself won't guarantee business success anyway.
On the plus side, using open source software can be a financial
advantage for start-ups aside from it's standard compliance.
Hope this helps :)
