Subject: Re: [plug] [OT] Send Email from SMS
mms address can be either E.164 phone number or RFC 2822 e-mail
address...
mms is encapsulated to MIME once sent to an email-address... once
replied.. it will decapsulated and converted to mms format....
therefore... mms is not an email....
correction... mms is converted (not encapsulated) to MIME format and vice
versa...
That's not quite correct. Both MIME format email and binary (Nokia EAIF)
encapsulated MM binaries are valid MMS formats -- namely, MM7 and
MM1 format.
see section 7 of this document:
http://www.openmobilealliance.org/release_program/docs/MMS/V1_3-20050708-C/OMA-AD-MMS-V1_3-20050617-C.pdf
Last I heard sending MMS was only 1 peso. Globe allows around 100KB,
and Smart currently claims 400KB. The maximum limit of the Nokia EAIF
MMSC is around 550KB. Although much above 50KB, the messages take
forever to arrive due to slow GPRS.
since gprs is slow.. i was thinking of to take advantage of this sms
technology to remote areas where sms (or mms) is the only infrastructure
available to provide cheap exchanging of small data such as small town
lottery betting number, electric meter reading and others going to your
central office compare to subscribe a sattelite or any expensive wireless
infrastructure.... all you need is to create your own protocol and
encapsulated over sms (or mms) protocol.... in that way not only sms to
email but other application that you will save a lot of money :->
fooler.
