The thought didn't cross my mind. Besides, even if a custom in-house
solution uses GPL, whoever you sell it to will want the source anyway,
and so long as you give the source (even if it comes with an onerously
priced contract) the GPL is satisfied.

I don't understand why you hate the GPL so much, actually. I agree
with Manny that there have to be some rules, otherwise the a$$holes
out there will ruin the party. It's like society: you give up some
freedom (i.e. you are not free to lie, cheat, steal, rape, or murder)
to get an overall better life.
