OLPC Project - What has already happened?

Does our government even care about signing up with this? Or has it? Or
is it just too expensive for us? But then again, I think the payment
could even be done in a span of years. Rwanda (Africa) even signed up
recently.
Filipino education is going down to shameful levels as obviously the
government no longer gives it the needed support. And in exchange for
what? Maybe this is one thing the government should consider for our
children, our future.
Pardon me if I'm just seeing hopelessness with this government.
Sentiments. Maybe someone could enlighten me.
BTW, the project seems to be promising more than what it initially
projected. The components are getting to more streamlined, more
efficient end products. Better software? The leanest they can get.
A happy new year to everybody. :)
