Like what you said for business critical solution, this is worth it, I heard it could guarantee high availability much efficient than doing it in SAN and/or OS level, e.g. HACMP, fail over can be breathtaking at most of the time :)
Ok then go for the $0.00 solution... Oracle XE :) That said, nobody pays list price for Oracle solutions.
