Except for the first sentence, have no idea what you are saying afterwards. > > > > What I need is a way to backup mails even if its open or being used. > > Yup,BackupPC can do this. No it can't. The parent e-mail from Junix already mentioned it, *opened files*(OF). You simply can't back it up, period. Retries using tar/resync, that does not count. BackupPC, which you have mentioned, uses tar. tar operates on the filesystem level. It won't work with OF. > > Just like Veritas Lotus/Domino Instance, it backup mails by connecting > > to the Domino service and using the Domino system to access the mails. > > Thus no mail lockup occurs. Another thing, It does not matter which backup software you have, what matters is if the backup software has a domino agent, then you can safely backup domino live. To the original poster, you either get the agent or stop the mail server and back it up. Their is another way, but a bit complicated and may not be applicable to you... use LVM snapshot. Since it bypasses the FS level and operates on the block level, OF is not an issue. -- regards, Andre | http://www.varon.ca _________________________________________________ Philippine Linux Users' Group (PLUG) Mailing List [email protected] (#PLUG @ irc.free.net.ph) Read the Guidelines: http://linux.org.ph/lists Searchable Archives: http://archives.free.net.ph
