Most of utilities mentioned are really meant to send one SMS at a time
using a GSM modem. That's why you still need to write your own shell
script to automate it.

Anyway, I have to warn you. If you're sending using a GSM modem, keep
in mind that sending an SMS will take around 8 seconds per message. So
6000 messages would take more than 13 hours to send if you're just
using one GSM modem. It can be faster if you have two or more GSM
modems. If you really need to send out that much messages in a hurry,
you might want to hire the services of one of the mobile content
providers instead to send your bulk messages, but that will cost you a
lot of money.
