Hi.

Actually it's more for 3-D design / rendering of furniture and handicrafts
as my employer is into imports / exports. They used AutoCAD and Rhino-3D to
render would be samples for presentation. But since these are proprietary
software, I am concerned on the licensing issues.

Not much for animation. But more for product modeling.

Thanks.

Hi,

You might want to check out:

http://linuxmovies.org/software.html

AFAIK, there's still no industry-standard replacement for Maya when it comes
to modelling. PRman and MR (Mental Ray) are still the best renderers out
there (depends on what you want to achieve though, i.e. if you're into
global illumination, the latter is best at that). If your company ha some
budget to spare, I suggest you try out Maya for modelling, Mayaman for RIB
generation/translation and then use AIR to render out these RIBs.

Greetings PLUG members.

Are there any matured / production-stable 3-D modeling / rendering software
available? I am looking for such applications in replace to our Rhino-3D
program. I've checked sourceforge.net but there aren't any user-friendly
programs like this. Plus, it has to run on M$ O/S.

Feedback is most appreciated.
