I'm not sure if this can be done. You can't just generate a .config
based on the running kernel you are using.
Even make oldconfig needed an already existing .config as a point of
reference.
Wait for the others if they have an idea about this.
what you are looking for is something like genkernel. as far as i
know genkernel is gentoo specific.
