Did try compile the kernel using the distro-supplied config.
I cannot however boot with the new kernel.
There is an error with /dev/ or something.
I suspect its the mkinitrd.
Tried mkinitrd -o /boot/initrd.img-2.6.22-16 2.6.22-16
results: kernel panic
Tried mkinitrd.yaird -o /boot/initrd.img-2.6.22-16 2.6.22-16
results: error in /dev/sda or something
Any ideas?
