Well companies out there still run their business on RPG/COBOL
platforms, and that skill is still useful in that job role.

Of course, there are "antediluvian" Unix installations out there - but
in the Philippines these are few and far between. Perhaps the original
poster is doing one of these. Still, people don't become fulltime
sed/awk developers, and anyone who wants to be a sysad with scripting
knoweldge won't get much bang out of the buck he spends on learning
those.
