Some people on the internet have successfully done this. installing OS
X on a non-apple hardware. Yes, I'm told, they run not just Tiger, but
also Leopard (10.5.5). Everything from netbooks to notebooks to full
desktops. Even AMD64.

The standard retail disk won't work--- PC is bios-based while Macs are
EFI based. the hack, as far as i know deals with circumventing that so
your install disk and target disk boots properly.

psystar in fact is offering os x on non-apple hardware. they have an
ongoing lawsuit with Apple.

As with hacks like this, i am guessing, mileage varies.
