Dell has clearly failed to hold up their end of the purchase agreement, based on what information Michael has provided. Then, they failed to make it right, and insisted on trying to force their customer to fix the problem himself (and not very nicely, considering his description of his mother's reaction). I'm pretty sure I would be making the same choice if I were in his position. However, I have had largely good experiences with Dell in most of my interactions with them... far more positive than with other large companies I've talked to (HP, Amazon, Microsoft, Google, to name a few). So if this had happened to me, counting the positive experiences I have had, I might not be making the same choice. Nonetheless, I think returning the OS-less laptop is a correct choice given the circumstances. That said, there are obviously other correct solutions. To each, his own. -wes _______________________________________________ PLUG mailing list [email protected] http://lists.pdxlinux.org/mailman/listinfo/plug
