Hi,

Not sure if this was brought up already- is there a particular reason you
are using an old version of Mint?
They are on 11 now, and 12 is on the way soon.

Also, can you describe the command line you are getting?
Is it a standard bash prompt?

(yourusername)@(yourcomputername)$ (standard user prompt)

or

(yourusername)@(yourcomputername)# (a root level prompt)

or are you getting a prompt like this:

grub> (the grub boot prompt, if you get this there is a hang up in the
boot process or the installer)

This info will help us narrow down what might be happening.

Are you booting a live CD version or the installer only version?

Can you use shift+up-arrow or shift+page-up to scroll the screen up, to see
any error messages?

It is possible your configuration isn't supported for X video mode with the
default settings.

I would suggest if possible to try the recent live CD of Mint 11, or
possibly a recent version of Knoppix, just to see if it can boot and bring
up X11.
