I would not find it unbelievable that my CD burner is going bad - the machine is a bit over four years old and I have used the optical drive heavily. So a bad CD from my end is entirely possible. But then you burned a copy at home using your burner and it was unreadable. That makes two bad burners in the mix here. The odds are now getting slimmer. If we had this to do over again I should have just put the ISO image on a USB stick and had you copy it directly onto your hard drive. Then you would have been able to re-burn it using other hardware until you got a readable copy.
