I have this problem on y Lenovo T61. It seems to be heat related.
If I let it set. take the plug out and let it cool off, then I can boot it. Leaving the plug in, seems to delay this considerably. I take the battery out. I unplug it. I leave it for a bit until it is cooled and then it boots again. Seems strange, but It seems to make a difference.
