Let me correct a misconception. Distributions are merely packaging. Like
most products, some are better packaged than others.

The underlying software in each distribution is basically no different
from that in the other distributions. They are all based on the same
kernel and software available to anyone who is making a distribution. 
Give or take a few features or add-ons a distribution provides, these can
possibly be obtained or installed on another distribution with a little
modification or using some tools. 

Like any tool, distributions are only as powerful as the wielder.  Though
some tools are more equal than others, proficiency essentially lays in the
hands of the user, super or not. Power tools do not a craftsman make.  A
Stradivarius does not make violinist a master.  ;)
