there could be problems doing this in the long run. there might be
temporary files left around if processes are terminated this way (ie kde,
enlightenment and lots of others) and eventually eat up a significant
amount of disk space. I also send SIGKILL only as a last option. :(

IMHO, there is still no substituted to a really good ups (used with
apcupsd, or better yet a back up generator)
