Use ext3. u can easily convert an ext2 to ext3(vice-versa) painlessly. U
only have to patch & recompile d kernel, reboot for the ext3 to take
effect, and that's it. My squid proxy servers are running ext3 (even the
root partition! but i chicken out and converted it back to ext2.) for 3
months now, no problems at all.

Just a comment, woody (unstable version of debian.) is just lovely, the
utilities like e2fsck, debugfs etc. are ext3 aware.
