I updated my kernel to 2.4.0 and ran into a few problems. First, do not
use DevFS if you can avoid it. I thought "DevFS is neat" and ran into lots
of problems, e.g. with my /etc/fstab (try
/dev/ide/host0/bus0/target0/lun0/part1 instead of /dev/hda1..)
Anyway, I needed to get updated modutils, e2fsprogs, and modutils. I got
the SRPMS from RawHide and built 'em (because the RawHide RPM's require
glibc-2.2 and I'm using -2.1). Since I used DevFS, I also needed to get
DevFSd and the DevFS permission-restoring script.
I have one last problem: my sound module (au8830.o) is not autoloading
anymore, so I don't have sound unless I specifically modprobe it. It's a
minor thing, but it used to work (in 2.2.18). Any comments?
