Martin's stuff is better for the new phones (7110, 6210) basically those
phones that use a DLR-3 cable. I don't have a DLR-3 and MyGnokii only gets
as far as identifying my phone and retrieving the IMEI. I don't have an
IrDA adapter either..

Any phone with a built-in GSM PDU (e.g. a modem) like 8210, 8850, 7110,
6210, 6250 can use the standard AT GSM commands, so try GSMlib (search for
it on freshmeat). The standard AT GSM commands will let you:

 * read SMS
 * send SMS
 * initiate data calls

however, the nokia-specific stuff (picture messages, oplogos) WON'T
work. you need Gnokii/MyGnokii for that. But right now the newer phones
are not supported.
