Contrary to popular belief, Perl is beautiful.  :)

I know some of its features (like the object orientation) are a bolt-on,
and it lacks elegant support for complex data types (e.g. structs). But
for 99% of what I do, it's perfect. And I'm not talking about web stuff.

Yes, but Tk is an ugly toolkit.  :)  I mean visually. There also is
Gtk+-Perl if you want to do Gtk+ from Perl. There also are Python
bindings, don't know about Tcl though.

And I have one final word for you: CPAN.
