Read about LinuxBIOS on Slashdot. Originally I thought they were making an
open-source BIOS so that the entire PC can be open-source. Apparently,
no. They put a kernel in the BIOS!
Since most modern midrange- and up- main boards have a 2MB flash BIOS,
it's certainly possible to put the entire kernel and boot loader in
there! that is, if the machine never dual-boots.
I'm seriously thinking about something like that.. maybe after I get
another decent computer. :) Can't live without Konoko and her friends
(running on Win32, alas) right now.
