Erm, it does compile on my Mandrake 8 system, I rebuilt
portslave-1.2.0pre12-2mdk from scratch with no problems.
My kernel is the stock 2.4.3-20mdk mandrake kernel.

I can give you the source RPM of my portslave if you need it.  \8)

I've been using portslave for various client deployments now with no
problems, and the only complaints are modem hard-hangs requiring physical
power cycles.  Other than that, it works quite well and i appreciate very
much the very functional config file...
