[plug] server reporting <2GB RAM

i have a server wth more then 2GB memory, but /proc/meminfo is 
reporting just less than 1GB...  will an append="mem=2G" in 
lilo.conf work?  if not, how do i tweak the kernel so that it reports 
the correct physical memory?
