you need the BIGMEM mem patch for the 2.2 kernel or enable the BIGMEM
feature for the 2.4 kernel to recognize memory > 1GB.
If you use a distro like mandrake or redhat with 2.2. kernel the patches
are included in their kernels, you just need to recompile i think.
