This is related, but I do not know if this is what you need.
To print a webpage that I am viewing (html to hardcopy), I click on
Netscape's FileMenu -> Print -> ToFile.  This always prints postscript,
so a get a file "doc.ps".  Then I use a modified version of
/usr/bin/gslj to print this on a laserjet4.  I always get very good
rendering of fonts.
