No.  And I don't suggest you uninstall xinetd and install the old
inetd in its place.  If xinetd has its security issues the old inetd
is far worse.

Read the documentation for xinetd to figure out how it works, no need
to cry about it :)  It's not much harder, and in fact once you figure
it out it really is quite simpler to use than the old inetd.
