dpkg says it's "ii gcc 2.95.2-13 The GNU C compiler."
the stock gcc that came with potato-r0. if this indeed has the
problem then that's my whole point why i stopped playing with xfs
initially. it's sooooo choosy. reiserfs and jfs just compiles and runs
without problems. anyway, read on...

what kdb? where? when i do "make menuconfig" the default xfs patch
has this as ticked:
Page Buffer support
SGI XFS file system support
Enable XFS DMAPI
KDB is off by default and i never selected it.

i've been using potato with the 2.4.x kernels since 2.4.x came out.
the packages i needed to make potato work with the 2.4.x kernel are:
bsdutils_1%3a2.10s-2_i386.deb mount_2.10s-2_i386.deb
e2fsprogs_1.19-3_i386.deb ppp_2.4.0f-1_i386.deb
iptables_1.2-2_i386.deb util-linux_2.10s-2_i386.deb
modutils_2.4.2-1_i386.deb
