hello all,
I'm trying to get VMWare Workstation 3.0 running on a Mandrake 8.1 box.
I had it working with the default kernel and with 2.4.14 (with ext3 and iptables
patches). now that i've upgraded to 2.5.0 (with iptables patches) though,
it won't run. i get this error after i start vmware:
VMware Workstation is installed, but it has not been (correctly) configured for
your running kernel. To (re-)configure it, your system administrator must find
and run "vmware-config.pl". For more information, please read the INSTALL
file in the VMware Workstation documentation directory.
now, i've run vmware-config.pl several times and it says that it builds
the correct modules and that the modules load perfectly (and lsmod says
that they *are* loaded), but it keeps whining with the above error message.
Has anyone else seen this? The only difference between when it was
running and now is the kernel upgrade. I'll reboot later into the default
2.4.x kernel, maybe it'll run there :). I'm posting this to the list though in
case someone has solved this already so that I won't have to downgrade
to a 2.4 kernel.
