i did. it was not a problem with vmware-config, it was a problem with
vmware. vmware-config worked fine, it built everything it needed to
build, it started the services it needed and exited without error. it was
when i ran vmware (after vmware-config had said everything was
perfect) that there would be problems. vmware would not run.
i've got it working now though. after many kernel builds tweaking
many different things :). i wasn't tweaking things for vmware, i had
put that on the back burner. instead, my building a new kernel had
made my cd stop working (cd-r) and the cd-rw stop working also
(naturally).
after many tries (and minimal documentation reading) i've finally
got a config that makes everything (almost) work. the CD works,
the CD-writer works and quite by accident, vmware started
working :).
now i'm working on the sound card. and after that, the printer :)
one of these days i'm going to get everything working correctly.
until i download another kernel and mess up the config all over
again :).
oh, btw, thanks for pointing matt baluyos at me. we're in contact
now.
