Until you get the actual networking between the two computers working
reliably, there's no reason to bother trying to get Samba to work.
Minimally, you need to be able to ping each box from the other.  The
fact that you can ping in one direction and not the other is baffling;
why not show us the output of "ifconfig -a" and "route -n" on your Linux
box, and "ipconfig" and "route print" on the Windows box.
