I have to agree with this. MySQL is my favorite web db for application purposes, but i actually learned SQL with Personal Oracle. Postgres can get very annoying in production because it's very rigid, but that or Oracle will make a better learning tool than MySQL, especially if you need to learn features such as foreign keys (which isn't supported in MySQL, that's why it's blazingly fast). But when something has to be done that was needed yesterday, MySQL is my weapon of choice. =)
