I cannot recommend enough this site:

http://paulgraham.com

Read what this man has written. He is the god of Lisp. I have read
both his books on Common Lisp; they give a lot of insight into Scheme as
well.

Paul Grahams new Lisp dialect "Arc" is going to be the greatest thing
since sliced bread when it comes out. Like Scheme it will have a single
namespace. Like Lisp it will have powerful and effective macros. Like
python it will have syntax. It will need a lot less parenthesis than
Lisp or Scheme. It will be much more compact and less verbose than
Lisp or Scheme. It'll be a hackers dream come true.

Cheers!
