Yes, I have. Our High School elective on computers ran on Windows. I
wrote almost all my college papers on Windows 95/98. I'm working in a
company that produces digital content on Windows NT. Became a god in
Baldur's Gate (a game) on Windows.

It didn't matter when I was beginning to learn about computers. I liked
what I've learned to do with computers. But in College, not being a
computer major nor even a hobbyist, I wasn't aware of the OS. There were
just papers to be rushed. So when the computer hanged, I cursed the
computer in general. You can consider me then as a case study of a
total user.

I became aware of Windows as something to be liked or not only when I
learned about an alternate OS, Linux. As before I remained indifferent
to Windows, finding it boring.

I started with Slackware. I use RedHat, Engarde, and Trustix at work.
I'm trying to play with Debian at home.

The source code of the programs. The tools with which to hack the source.
And the cantankerous, helpful, and passionate commnunity of collaborating
users and hackers. And above all else, the grand gesture of the Free
Software--creating good programs and giving it away free. Crazy.

The reverse of above.

My mind is blank.

Software piracy. I've just had an exchange of email with a friend who
forwarded me 'In the Beginning was the Command Line', a great essay
by Neal Stephenson about the universe, life and computers. The essay
talked about how great and bad Linux is among other things. And my friend
has a linux guy for a brother. She seems to admire Linux. But she
said she'd rather keep on using Windows and would only shift to Linux
if Windows can't be gotten for free anymore.
