to beat Windows ???
1. linux is not competing with windows
2. beating windows/microsoft IS NOT linux primary goal
but to stict to that thinking of beating windows
1. BETTER is a general word and will differ in every occation
I would say linux is a BETTER OS for the servers ( have you seen an MS
server runnin for almost a year or more than a year without reboot and
running on high load??) i did i had 3 lin boxes( and freebsd too) running
230 days of uptime the only time it went down was when luzon got that 3 day
nationwide blackout and our back up power/generator went down
Linux is a better DEVELOPMENT platform cause all the tools you need are
there for FREE
and some many reasons more im too lazy to type here ( its 11:59 A.M. i just
woke up so sue me)
Microsoft has made a tremendous effort for the desktop thats why it IS
arguably a BETTER desktop OS and linux is not ( NOT YET some would say)
as of to your arguement of BETTER i hope that answers it
oh yeah i almost forgot Microsoft to make a microsoft OS perform BETTER
you need to PAY MORE
you HAVE TO PAY for your copy of w2k or your so called BETTER dev. tools -
