i'm using portslave-1.2.0pre12.tar.gz. got it from
http://www.linuxrouter.org

1. tar xfvz portslave.tgz -C /tmp
2. cd /tmp/portslave
3. make ALL (pls. verify the makefile)
4. make install
5. vi /etc/portslave/pslave.conf
6. vi /etc/inittab
7. kill -HUP 1 or init q
8. edit radius config files

i've read your mail (the one with radius died).
radius does not have anything to do with
modems answering incoming calls (per se),
it is however, responsible for authenticating
the request for a connection.

the first step is to make portslave answer
incoming calls then, configure radius to
authenticate those calls.

you can also try viewing the output of
dmesg to make sure that you have such
serial port devices.
