I am not an officer, but I'd like to say a few words anyway. 1. Andy Sy's strongest point is that he talks about technical merits and challenges everyone to do the same. There are enough people here with the technical knowledge to answer his challenges, so let us argue on the basis of our collective technical expertise, if we have that. We should be tolerant enough to acknowledge Windows' superiority in certain areas, and Linux's superiority in many others. 2. It is clear that Andy does not use the most appropriate language, and sometimes his vocabulary borders on the socially unacceptable, and he seems to love doing this (to provoke some of us?). But that should not be reason enough to kick him out of this list. Let us chastise him for his FOUL language, and ask him to tone it down and post like civilized people do. And let us refrain from using FOUL language ourselves. 3. One good thing about Andy Sy is that he does not hide under some crazy name, like some of us do. Linux is the operating system we all love because it gives us the freedom to read the source and learn how it works, and to modify it, if we are capable. It is so well written that many apps build effortlessly from the source, under Linux, using open source tools. This allows you to build his your system, modified to your taste. This freedom to learn, and the ability to build your own, is something that Windows will NEVER be able to give us. Whatever its shortcomings, it is still an excellent operating system, technically superior to Windows 2K/XP in many areas, but not in all areas. Let us give Any Sy reasonable responses to his questions, and let us not go down to the level of calling each other NICE names. Thank you. PMana _ Philippine Linux Users Group.
