Does anyone know if there are substantial differences in the
kernel header files of the minor versions of linux-2.4, that is,
differences in /usr/src/linux/include/{linux,asm} of the versions
2.4.1, 2.4.2, ..., 2.4.17? Would such differences affect the behavior
of glibc-2.2.4 in major way?
What I am really asking is, if I build glibc-2.2.4 against linux-2.4.17,
will this build still work properly when I upgrade to linux-2.4.18?
I have always worked under the assumption that this is true. If fact
using glibc-2.2.4, I could still run binaries built against glibc-2.1.7
for linux-2.2.18. But this assumption could be dangerous. Is there
an assurance, written down somewhere, of this glibc downward
compatibility?
