I have only second-hand info, and someone who gave it to me on condition that
"it didn't come from (him)," primarily because he has an NDA. First, GPRS is
free till the end of the month -- and I truly hope it is, since I've downloaded
some rather large files. Second, according to my source, subscribers get 2MB
free per month, and after that it's PhP0.10 per KB -- not final, however. The
PhP100 sounds like their "provisioning" charges, i.e., what they'll charge you
for GPRS activation. I did have that problem, Globe was trying to activate my
GPRS but a charge kept showing up on my record, and this was causing them
concern because it's supposed to be free. Anyway, to cut this story short, the
lady from Globe who called me said that I'd have been charged PhP100 for the
activation.

In any event, Globe should be making announcements soon. Although I don't know
that there'll be many people interested, since 1) it's likely to be available
only to plan subscribers (of w/c there are only 30,000?); and 2) it'll require a
new handset, since those on the market nowadays are only WAP-enabled.

Mabuhay.
