Noted, and thanks. (And I always appreciate the civility of our esteemed Canadian neighbours.) I hope you folks will consider me cheeful and peaceful for a Viking-descendent. ;-> [1] > I like your answer: try and compare for yourself. It is the only > rational approach. Well, one can always re-float some of the traditional broad generalities about the BSDs, but they're often outdated, or inapplicable, or 80% matters of opinion and perpective, so I personally don't think they're much of a substitute for just trying them. People forget how easy (and rewarding, I would say) the latter is. Here in my area, the Linux community mostly also gives people assistance with any of the open-source BSDs, and I'm always glad to let people make copies of my CD sets, which I keep current. So, my first instinct when people ask me how the BSDs compares is "Here, let me help you see for yourself." [1] I used to live on the corner of Lapu Lapu St. and Harrison St. in San Francisco, though, and so I know full fell that "be nice" has its limits for Filipinos. ;-> (There's a story behind that.) -- Cheers, Rick Moen "vi is my shepherd; I shall not font."
